Saving at the Pump: Tips for Battling Inflation

Nicole Higginbotham-Hogue

Gas prices can be high, and this can put a damper on doing simple things like going to work or even out to eat. So, what can you do to alleviate some of the stress that is brought along by these high prices? Though the answers may be different for everyone, here are a few suggestions.

1. Pay attention to where you shop for groceries.

Some grocery stores have deals where they will give you discounts at certain gas stations for shopping at their stores. The terms and conditions are different depending on which grocery store you select, but the savings can make a big impact.

2. Join the loyalty clubs.

Some gas stations have loyalty clubs that you can join to get discounts on their gas. Join these so you don't miss out on the perks.

3 Use a rideshare.

Instead of always using your own vehicle to get around, try carpooling with others. This might allow you to have more money left over while still allowing you to get where you need to go.

So, next time that you are in need of gas savings, consider the options. Check your grocery rewards, join the gas station loyalty clubs, or just share a ride from time to time.
