Dating and the Big Head

Nicole Higginbotham-Hogue

You might have been dating someone for a while and though the two of you might get along for the most part, you might have one issue. You might have the issue that your partner has a big head and brags about him or herself all of the time. So, what do you do if your partner has a big head? How do you approach this situation? Though the answers to these questions may be different for everyone, here are a few suggestions.

1. Discuss this issue with your partner.

Talk to your partner about this issue and listen to how he or she feels about this issue. Try to come up with a solution to this issue that works for the both of you.

2. Start a compliment jar.

Write down nice things that you and your partner can do for other people on paper and put these ideas in a jar. Each day, make sure both of you draw from the jar and accomplish the goal that is written down. This might make both of you more humble and divert the concentration off of yourselves and onto helping other people.

3. Change the subject.

When your partner starts talking about him or herself, try changing the subject. This might give your partner the hint that you don't want to focus the conversation on him or her.

If you have been with your partner for a while but you have an issue that he or she has a big head and brags about him or herself all of the time, talk to him or her about the issue. Start a compliment jar, or do yourself to change the subject if necessary.
