Dating and the Hat

You might be with someone that you love and care about, and though the two of you might get along most of the time, there may be one issue. You might have an issue that your partner won't take off his or her hat even when the two of you go to dinner parties. So, what do you do if your partner won't take off his or her hat at social events and it bothers you? How do you handle this? Though the answers to these questions may be different for everyone, here are a few suggestions.

1. Discuss this issue with your partner.

Let your partner know how you feel about this issue and listen to what he or she has to say about it. Try to be understanding if your partner explains why he or she doesn't want to remove his or her hat, and do your best to compromise on a way to solve this issue.

2. Set your expectations.

Let your partner know when you would like him or her to take his or her hat off and why. If it is a matter of respect to you, then explain why you feel this way. See if the two of you can agree on times when wearing a hat is appropriate and when it is not so you can solve the issue.

3. Agree to disagree.

If your partner is set on wearing his or her hat no matter where he or she goes due to comfort or other reasons, then do your best to agree to disagree. Try to move on from this issue and focus on other aspects of your relationship.

If you have been with someone for a while but you have an issue that your partner wears his or her hat everywhere you go, try talking to him or her. Set your expectations, and agree to disagree if necessary.
