If you haven't dated for a while or dated at all, it might be difficult to determine how to act on a first date. You might be nervous that the other person will not like you, and you may wonder what you should say. So, what do you do if you are nervous about going out on a date with someone? How do you act? What should you say? Though the answers to these questions may be different for everyone, here are a few suggestions.

1. Be yourself.

Don't try to say things that you know will impress the other person. Just be yourself. Dating can be the process that people use to determine if they are ready to be in a relationship with someone, so you don't want the other person thinking that you are someone that you are not.

2. Try to stay calm.

Remember, the other person might be just as nervous as you are, so do your best to stay on topic and stay calm. It might be difficult at first, but if the two of you find that you have things in common, then the conversation may flow more easily.

3. Be respectful.

Try to avoid topics that may start fights. Don't ask questions that are too personal until you get to know the other person better. Use your manners and show that you want to be there by showing that you are interested in the conversation.

Dating can be a hard process at times, but if you are yourself and respectful towards the other person, you may find that going out was worth your time.
