If you and your partner have ever gotten into a spat regarding who is pulling more weight in the relationship, you may be wondering how you can step it up and make more of an effort. However, it can be difficult to understand what it is that your partner wants you to do in this case, especially if you already feel like you are doing what you can to make the relationship work. So, what more can you do to show that you are willing to put in the extra work? What will show your partner that you are trying? Though the answer to this question may be different for everyone, here are a few suggestions.

1. Call and text more often.

Send an extra text throughout the day to show your loved one that you are thinking about him or her or call him or her. This can show your other half that he or she is on your mind.

2. Show more affection.

An impromptu hug might just do the trick. Let your loved one know that you care about him or her by showing small signs of affection.

3. Help more with household chores.

If he or she is overwhelmed with household chores, then try to help out. Sometimes, the weight of responsibility can cloud a mood.

4. Plan a spontaneous date night.

Plan a date and take him or her out. Maybe, your loved one just needs to get out and spend some time doing an activity with you. Try to do your best to plan a night that works for the both of you and have fun with him or her.

5. Try to listen more while conversating.

It is easy to get so involved in a conversation that you find yourself talking about your experiences, but sometimes, people just want you to listen so they can vent. Try to listen to what your other half has to say and allow him or her to speak on the issues that affected his or her day.

Relationship maintenance can be hard and sometimes confusing, but by showing that you are willing to go the extra mile for your loved one, you may be able to repair the conflict and establish a closer bond.
