Shooting in Midtown sends victim to hospital on Sunday, says Atlanta Police

NewsFocus™ Atlanta (Midtown Atlanta) — Atlanta Police Officers responded to Grady Memorial Hospital on Sunday, March 20 around 6:22 PM regarding a male victim that had been shot at another location.

Upon arrival, APD Officers made contact with a male victim that had received a gunshot wound. He was alert, conscious and breathing, and receiving medical treatment.

Preliminary investigations indicate the shooting occurred at 690 Piedmont Ave NE at 3rd Street NE in Midtown, and was the result of a dispute between the victim and a male suspect. Both parties appear to know each other.

APD reported that the suspect was detained with charges pending.

The investigation continues according to APD, and they request that the public please keep in mind the above information is preliminary in nature and can change as the investigation progresses and new information comes to light.

This incident occurred in the Midtown neighborhood within Neighborhood Planning Unit E (NPU-E). This location is in City Council District 2 represented by Councilmember Amir Farokhi.

APD units responded from Field Operations Division Zone 5 Patrol, Criminal Investigations Div. (CID), Community Services Div. K-9 Unit, and Support Services Div. Crime Scene Investigations Unit.

Atlanta Fire Rescue and Grady EMS also responded to the scene.

It is important to note, as guaranteed by the United States and Georgia Constitutions, suspects are innocent until proven guilty, and there have been times when the innocent have been wrongfully arrested and convicted.
