Within three minutes of being dispatched, Cobb firefighters were on scene of a working house fire in Marietta where they were met with smoke and flames showing from a window.
Cobb County Fire & Emergency Services (CCFES) Engine Company 2 was first on scene after being dispatched at approximately 12:56 PM on February 4, 2022 to the 20 block of Talley Street, SE off Olive Springs Road, SE in Marietta.
The first due firefighters with Engine Company 2 made an aggressive offensive interior attack and extinguished the fire located in the kitchen before it extended to the rest of the house.
As firefighters were searching for victims, members of Rescue 30 found a cat in a bedroom. As other firefighters kept searching for people, one of the firefighters removed the feline from the smoke filled home.
Firefighters with Squad 7 and a firefighter with Engine Company 30 started resuscitative efforts. The firefighter medics used an oxygen therapy rescue mask.
The kitty regained consciousness after 20 minutes of care and was reunited with her happy owner.

This was just one of the incidents responded to out of the 1,247 calls during the week of January 30 to February 5, 2022. In addition to fires, firefighter/medics answered calls for hazardous conditions, rescue and emergency services, and other service calls.
