Why did you apply to become a NewsBreak Contributor?

When I heard there was an app that focused on all things local and community, I wanted to be a part of it.

What's your favorite part about contributing to NewsBreak?

As I mostly write about food and local events, I truly love exploring my area. I love getting to know the local spots, whether it's a cafe, a food truck, or an art gallery,

What advice would you give to other contributors who want to be successful on NewsBreak?

Do your thing, and embrace the community you find yourself in.

What's been your favorite story to work on?

Here are some of my favorites:

Whoopie Pie, a Go-To Traditional Treat in Pennsylvania Dutch Country. But What is it, Really?

Greeted with Delicious Breakfast and Unexpected Kindness at Scratch Bakes in Ephrata, PA

Knock, and Enter an Elegant Speakeasy Inspired Bar in the Heart of Lancaster City, PA

What makes your community unique? In other words, why do you enjoy sharing about your local region?

I love the diversity of it. Lancaster has a unique heritage with the Amish community, which is reflected in the food scene. You have the traditional dutch meals, all things pickled, and lots of baked goods. At the same time, the city is home to a ton of trendy restaurants covering a wide range of cuisines, reflecting the diversity of the county. Many of the newer food spots are run by immigrants and refugees. A few years back, The New York Post actually talked about Lancaster as the "New Brooklyn." Lancaster Central Market and Southern Market Lancaster are perfect examples of this. Food-wise, you feel like you're traveling the world.
