New product feature: disabling and restricting comments on posts

NewsBreak Contributors

We're excited to announce new features that give contributors the ability to disable or restrict comments on their posts. These comment controls are in addition to our existing tools that allow contributors to manage, respond, and delete comments.

This update allows contributors to restrict comments to only their followers or turn off commenting on certain posts altogether. There will also be an added label if you respond or like a comment, so the user will know “the author” reacted to their comment. We are working to build a more inclusive community on NewsBreak and these new features help empower contributors to build a positive, engaged community of their own.

New comment management feature in portal.(NewsBreak)

Contributors can access these new features under the Comments icon in the Manage Content tab. Once you click into the Comments icon for each post, you will be able to toggle your selection.

We want to let you know it will take a little bit of time for all NewsBreak users to see if a contributor has chosen to disable or restrict comments. This is because users will need to update their NewsBreak app to see the same changes, so it’s possible that some comments make it through if a users app is not updated and we encourage you to delete unwelcome comments when necessary.

September content contests: how to enter

Happy September, contributors! In addition to our Hispanic Heritage Month content campaign launching later this week, this month we're holding four additional content contests. Here's how it works: you'll post a story related to these "mini-content campaigns" on or before the deadline, making sure to include the correct tag before publishing your article. Our NewsBreak editorial team will then vote on which stories win (one story will be selected for each contest), and each winner will be awarded $50.
