NewsBreak’s Creator Program launched exactly one year ago. Since then, thousands of passionate storytellers have come aboard to share stories that fuel our company’s mission of helping people live safer, more vibrant, more truly connected lives. We’ve come a long way, but know the best is yet to come! We’re excited to introduce the next evolution of this program: NewsBreak’s Contributor Network.
We believe the name Contributor Network better reflects the diversity of our community. From amateur writers and professional journalists, to subject matter experts and video creators, this title represents what we foresee the future looking like.
In addition to the name change, we are updating our Content Policy and Content Requirements and rolling out a new set of Editorial Standards & Guidelines. The goal of these guidelines is to increase transparency, build credibility with our audience and make our Contributor ecosystem a safer and healthier place for all.
As part of our efforts to increase transparency with our audience, we will also roll out three tiers of Contributor types: Community Voice, Community Voice Pro, and Journalist. These designations will be based on external certifications, level of expertise, and adherence to the NewsBreak policy, guidelines and requirements.
Tips for success as a Contributor on NewsBreak
As we embark on this new phase, there are three key takeaways we encourage contributors to keep in mind moving forward:
- Find a topic that you feel passionate about and stick with it to lead to better performance. Local remains at the core of NewsBreak, and we will reward strong local content.
- Read our Content Policy, Content Requirements and Editorial Standards & Guidelines in full. Any content published on NewsBreak will be evaluated based on all of these documents and violations may be subject to penalties.
- Stay engaged! Our team is working hard behind the scenes to create new product features and enhancements to help you make the most out of your contributor experience. By publishing often and keeping abreast of the latest rollouts and announcements, you’ll be in the best position to take advantage of all that’s available to you.
