AMES, IA (News Wave) - According to a press release from the Ames Police Department issued on Friday, November 17, 2023, in the early hours of Friday, November 17, the Ames Police Department responded promptly to a distress call reporting an armed robbery at the Kum and Go situated at 4510 Mortensen Rd, the incident occurred at approximately 4:27 A.M., leaving local authorities in pursuit of the suspect.

According to the account provided by the store clerk, the suspect is described as a black male, standing approximately 6 feet tall, at the time of the incident, he was reportedly wearing a black coat, a face covering, white shoes, and a distinctive large cross necklace, according to the press release.

The suspect, brandishing a handgun, confronted the clerk and demanded money before making a hasty exit on foot, fleeing northbound from the store, according to the press release.
