If you watched Netflix's documentary "Tiger King," which premiered in May 2020, you know about the drama that conspired between the zoo owner Joe Exotic and animal rights advocate Carol Baskin. If you ask me, the main idea of the series was to show that owning wild animals should be strictly prohibited in the United States and the entire world, but that's just me. Whether you are an animal lover or not, making money off innocent animals living in captivity and taking away their newborn cubs to profit doesn't sound like ethical practice.
But anyway. Joe Exotic, a former owner of the Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park, is still in prison due to conspiring to kill Carol Baskin. The court ordered to have his sentence shortened, but Joe is still awaiting sentencing.
Apparently, Cardi B tried to set up a GoFundMe campaign to fundraise for Joe Exotic, but the platform removed it due to rules violation. Because of that, his lawyer had to create a brand new campaign - here's a link to it (not sponsored or affiliated; again, I don't encourage or discourage you from participating).
Joe is asking for $500,000 on GoFundMe to help him pay the settlement reached with Baskin. According to the campaign, the settlement amount is $1 million. It's unclear why Joe is seeking half of it.
He also shares his misfortunes and hardships with the public and his recent health problems. While in prison, Exotic was diagnosed and treated for cancer, which is heartbreaking.
I, for one, wasn't happy with what I saw in "Tiger King." Having that said, no one deserves to lose everything and suffer from an awful disease while in federal prison.
