Clara County, CA — Any time a police officer is shot in the United States it is a national story as the union reps take to their pulpits to tell us all how dangerous a police officer’s job is and that there is a ‘war on cops.’ Though it is certainly tragic when a police officer is shot, the reality is that it doesn’t happen very often at all and being a police officer isn’t even in the top 20 most dangerous jobs. What’s more, as the following case illustrates, many of these cops fake the attacks on themselves.
Sukhdeep Gill, a deputy with the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office, was arrested last week for faking his own shooting and claiming he’d been a victim in a drive-by shooting.
Gill claimed he’d been shot in his body camera, so not only was their no evidence of the shooting, but he also credited it with saving his life. According to a press release from the department, “responding police found no serious injuries on Deputy Sukhdeep Gill. It appeared he had been shot only once, and in a miraculous spot – his body-worn camera, which was destroyed. The incident triggered a manhunt for the shooter.”
According to the original story, at approximately 10:32 p.m., on January 31, 2020, the deputy hit the emergency broadcast button on his department issued radio and broadcast “Shots fired! Shots fired!” Officers responded from the Sheriff’s Office as well as the San Jose, Morgan Hill, and Gilroy police departments.
The deputy told the first officer on scene that he had parked on the dirt shoulder to urinate during a routine patrol. While walking back towards the driver side of his patrol car he was shot at by the passenger in a silver sedan that had turned off its lights as it approached him. The deputy said he fired two shots towards the suspect vehicle, which fled on Uvas Road.
Apparently, urinating on the side of the road is fine and dandy so long as you are a cop. But you better not try it if you are not one. Or, perhaps Gill knew cops would be sympathetic after he was shot. Either way, he was never charged for urinating in public.
After the “shooting,” when police began to look deeper into the case, Gill, a 4-year veteran of the department, couldn’t keep his story straight.
An investigation found evidence, including ballistics, that exposed serious discrepancies in the deputy’s account which eventually led to his suspension in October and charges last week.
Gill was charged with felony vandalism and falsely reporting a crime, a misdemeanor.
“This case is bewildering and deeply disappointing,” District Attorney Jeff Rosen said. “Deputy Gill’s actions abused the trust of his fellow officers and diverted public safety resources away from protecting the community to investigate a made-up crime.”
As mentioned above, cops faking shootings or attacks on themselves is a common theme.
In May of last year, citizens of Virginia and the rest of the country were shocked as headlines across the internet reported that a Fauquier County Sheriff’s Deputy was found unconscious on the roadside after being attacked by people driving a black SUV. The blue line supporters came out in full force driving home the narrative that there is a war on cops. However, after police began investigating the incident, they quickly found out that no attack ever happened.
Apparently, Fauquier County Sheriff’s Deputy Jake Preston Dooley, 22, went so far as to hit himself in the head to fake the attack and was even hospitalized. Amazingly enough, it only took the department 24 hours to realize Dooley was lying. Sheriff Mosier then thanked the community for their outrage in the cop’s fake attack, and noted how horrible it made them feel.
In January of 2020, TFTP reported on the fabricated story of how Los Angeles Sheriff’s Deputy Angel Reinosa was shot in the shoulder by a sniper as he walked from his patrol car into the station. A massive manhunt ensued as heavily armed deputies in military attire set up a perimeter and locked down the area but it would all be in vein. Reinosa was arrested because he made the entire thing up.
Less than a week later, another cop in Ohio was arrested for doing the exact same thing! On January 13, approximately 50 officers from ten different departments combed a prominently black neighborhood looking for a non-existent suspect. This swarm of cops was reportedly detaining innocent people, pulling over others, and shaking up an entire community. All of this chaos and rights violations were because Warren Police Officer Noah Linnen falsely claimed he’d been involved in a shootout with a black man in a black SUV.
Apparently, the “black SUV” is the go-to vehicle for cops faking attacks on themselves.
TFTP has reported on dozens of these instances over the years in which cities were locked down and massive manhunts violated the rights of innocent citizens — all because of cops faking attacks. What’s that saying about the boy who cried wolf?
