6 ways to celebrate mom in Douglas County

(Douglas County, Colo.) Events across Douglas County have the red carpet rolled out for all moms this Mother’s Day weekend. 

Here are 6 events to attend to celebrate mom:

Moms and mimosas 

10 a.m.-1 p.m. May 13 at the Outlets at Castle Rock, 5050 Factory Shops Blvd. in Castle Rock

Moms can enjoy a shopping day with exclusive discounts, swag bags, mimosas, sweet treats, flowers, and more.

Tickets cost $25 and benefit The Help and Hope Center of Castle Rock. The Help and Hope Center is a non-profit organization that assists people in Douglas and Elbert counties who are in severe economic need, at risk of homelessness, or in a similar crisis.

Mother’s Day 5K

9 a.m.-12 p.m. May 13 at Cresthill Middle School, 9195 Cresthill Ln. in Highlands Ranch

Family and friends are invited to run, walk, or stroll at the Mother’s Day 5K. Racers will receive a tee shirt, an apres race pancake breakfast, and a free beer from Living the Dream Brewing Co.

Plus, whoever finds the hidden kettlebell along the course and brings it back to the finish line will win $100. 

Race registration ranges from $35-$55.

Mother’s Day Board and Brush project

10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. May 13 at Board and Brush, 2201 Wildcat Reserve Pkwy. in Highlands Ranch

Families are invited to get crafty with mom at Board and Brush. Guests will get to pick their projects, such as a tray, coat hanger, welcome sign, and more. Moms will receive a gift and muffins as well.

Registration is required, and prices range from $25-$73.

Mimosas at the mansion

11 a.m.-4 p.m. May 14 at the Highlands Ranch Mansion, 9950 E. Gateway Dr. in Highlands Ranch

The Highlands Ranch Mansion will open its doors for free self-guided tours for families looking for an inexpensive and picturesque way to spend Mother’s Day.

Mimosas and boxed lunches from Roots Colorado catering will be available for purchase. Alternatively, visitors may pack their picnic to enjoy on the mansion’s lawn.

Tickets or reservations are not required for this free event.

Mother’s Day brunch at the castle

9-11:30 a.m. May 14 at the Cherokee Ranch Castle, 6113 N. Daniels Park Rd. in Sedalia

Moms are invited to feel like the queen of the castle at a special brunch. All mothers will receive a rose and one free mimosa while enjoying a brunch buffet, a bar, and coffee.

Mother’s Day afternoon tea at the castle

2-4 p.m. May 14 at the Cherokee Ranch Castle, 6113 N. Daniels Park Rd. in Sedalia

Mothers can enjoy an authentic royal English-style tea at the castle and, upon entry, will receive a rose and a free glass of Champagne.

The afternoon tea will consist of tea choices, finger sandwiches, treats, scones, jams, and more treats. After the tea, guests can embark on a journey through the past on a guided tour through the castle.
