(Parker, Colo.) The High Plains Trail connector project is nearly finished and guests can expect to enjoy the new overpass trail by the beginning of summer.
Originally anticipated for completion by spring 2023, the slight timeline adjustment will allow pedestrians and bikers to travel over E-470 all summer long.
The $5.2 million multimodal project will connect two major regional trails including the Cherry Creek Regional Trail and the High Plains Trail.
The first phase included the installation of a grade-separated overcrossing at Parker Road just north of Preservation Park, which is now open for use although roadwork is still ongoing.
Starting May 20 motorists can anticipate single-lane closures on South Parker Road between the 17 Mile House Farm Park and Preservation Park and Trailhead at the border of Centennial and Parker.
