(Douglas County, Colo.) In place of a one-time annual event, the Douglas County Health Department partnered with Waste Management for a household service that removes hazardous waste.

The year-round service will pick up waste such as old house paint, fertilizers, batteries, pool chemicals, and more to help safeguard families, protect water quality, conserve landfill space, and reduce illegal dumping.

When not disposed of properly, some household products are harmful to pets, wildlife, sanitation workers, health, and the environment if poured down the drain, toilet, storm sewer, or put in the trash.

Douglas County residents are eligible for one collection appointment per calendar year.

To view a complete list of accepted and non-accepted items, click here.

The cost is $30 for Douglas County residents, and registration is available here.
