The Grand Opening of the Factory at the District in Chesterfield took place last Friday, July 16th, hosting electronic artist Deadmau5. The 52,000 square foot non-smoking (except on the outside smoking decks) and "All Ages" music club has a capacity of 3,000, and houses a total of seven bars. The unique industrial architecture and style will soon be a venue for Billy Bob Thornton and the Boxmasters, Joan Jett, the Beach Boys, and Cheap Trick in just the next two months. The layout is very similar to the Delmar Pageant. It doesn't seem like a bad spot, visually or acoustically, exists in the venue.
Keep in mind, this is an almost entirely cashless facility. ApplePay and credit cards are accepted at the bars. Cash is only accepted for merchandise. There are charging stations provided if your phone runs out of battery, and all you have with you is ApplePay or if you still have more pictures to get! Unfortunately, you may have to eat before you go because food is not allowed, provided, or sold.
The venue maintains high security and it is understood that all guests and belongings are subject to search upon entrance. Service animals are allowed inside and the venue is handicap accessible. Kids are welcome if accompanied by an adult depending on the show, and children five and over do require a valid ticket.
The staff, security, and bartenders we encountered were eager to show us around and extremely helpful. We snagged an ideal spot not far from the bar parallel to the stage. We were able to place our drinks on a ledge in front of us also parallel to the stage and watched the show slightly higher than the rest of the general admission floor. If you get there early enough, you can snag this same spot! We definitely enjoyed our experience here and definitely plan on the venue again soon to see another artist.
