Vice President Kamala Harris is returning to Los Angeles on Friday evening, which could result in traffic congestion during the evening rush hour in the Westchester and West Los Angeles areas.
Harris's arrival is scheduled at Los Angeles International Airport just after 6 p.m., following her flight from Denver, as confirmed by her office. Being a resident of Brentwood, she is expected to be transported by motorcade from the airport to the West Los Angeles area, causing temporary road closures on and off the 405 Freeway.
Her office has stated that there are no planned public appearances for Harris and her husband, Douglas Emhoff, over the weekend.
Harris is set to attend CNN's "Juneteenth: A Global Celebration for Freedom" at the Greek Theatre in Griffith Park on Monday. The event promises exciting performances by renowned artists such as Charlie Wilson, Nelly, Miguel, and Mike Phillips, as announced by the network.
Vice President Kamala Harris's Return to Los Angeles
On the night of June 16, Vice President Kamala Harris arrived back in Los Angeles.
Air Force Two reached Los Angeles International Airport precisely at 6:33 p.m.
Harris waved at the enthusiastic crowd as she stepped off the aircraft, receiving a warm welcome.
Approximately 400 individuals were present on the tarmac, including friends, family, and representatives from various community organizations.
Harris's husband, Douglas Emhoff, engaged with the crowd, greeting them and taking selfies. Following his lead, Harris gradually made her way along the barricade line.
She did not halt addressing the small group of media personnel present.
At around 7 p.m., Harris and the second gentleman entered their vehicle and headed home.
When not residing in Washington D.C., Harris calls Brentwood her home. Her next engagement is slated for Monday at CNN's "Juneteenth: A Global Celebration for Freedom" at Griffith Park's Greek Theatre.
The event will feature captivating performances by Charlie Wilson, Nelly, Miguel, and Mike Phillips, among others, according to the network.
Harris's last visit to the Southland occurred just a month ago, from May 19-22. During her stay, she made several public appearances, including a visit to the Baldwin Hills non-profit Baby2Baby and a stop at Crypto.com Arena to attend a Los Angeles Sparks game, where she warmly greeted Phoenix Mercury centre Brittney Griner, who had recently been detained in Russia on a drug charge.
Following the warm welcome from the hundreds-strong crowd on the airport tarmac, Harris, accompanied by her husband Douglas Emhoff, embarked on a motorcade journey from the airport to the West Los Angeles area.
This arrival and subsequent departure from the airport were anticipated to cause traffic congestion during the evening rush hour for motorists in the Westchester and West Los Angeles areas. The planned caravan included rolling road closures on and off the San Diego (405) Freeway to ensure a safe passage.
