Jack Dorsey announced yesterday on his Twitter that after 16 years, he has decided to leave the company. Jack Dorsey shared his journey and post on Twitter where he shared that he will be leaving Twitter and the new CEO will be Parag Agrawal.
Jack also announced that despite being the co-founder of Twitter, he would not stay as a chairman. Instead, he wishes to give complete freedom and creativity to Parag Agrawal.
Is Twitter trying to take a new turn in the social media industry?
Twitter is the place where news spreads the fastest. If something is happening globally, Twitter is a social media channel that updates everything quickly and in real-time.
Also, when other social media channels fail, such as Instagram, users turn towards Twitter to see what is happening. Especially after the last outage of Facebook and Twitter.
Although somehow Twitter has been the same over the years. Yes, there have been changes, such as Longer tweets, sharing pictures, and videos. However, while Twitter has 330 Million active users monthly, it looks like the young audience is not getting the grip of Twitter yet. While at the same time, lots of people who are anti-Facebook or Instagram find Twitter the best platform to entertain their audience. Such as Elon Musk, who often Tweets about his projects, ideas, and Crypto.
And let's not forget the governments and politicians. For example, Donald Trump used Twitter to communicate with his voters and run his campaigns. Although after many warnings from Twitter on May 7, 2021, Twitter banned Donald Trump from their platform.
Yes, maybe Twitter needs some new revolutionary ideas & stands out with something new. Parag Agrawal, who joined the company in 2011 ( 10 years ago), will be the new CEO, and maybe with his vision and energy, we will see some changes.
Will we? The future can only tell.
The First Tweet was Sold for $2.9M
And Can you guess who made the first Tweet?
Yes, you guessed it right - Jack Dorsey himself.
"Just setting up my twttr" was published on March 21, 2006
And was sold as an NFT for $2.9 M.
This is another excellent example of how Twitter influenced the NFT world. Today, after this and influence from Elon Musk, many people have got into NFTs & making good money with them.
If you do not know NFT, then here is a short explanation: Each NFT has its blockchain-based digital signature, which serves as a public ledger, allowing anyone to verify the asset's authenticity and ownership.
While Twitter has influenced many trends, there have also been many negative setbacks.
You can share videos, pictures, and moments on Twitter, and they can go viral quickly. But, unfortunately, Twitter faced problems when it came to terrorism attacks or fake news.
From there on, Twitter has been taking it more seriously regarding harmful or fake information.
There are questions when it comes to hateful speech or bullying. But, as on Twitter, anyone can open an account and share whatever comes to their mind - Good or bad.
Are we going to see the changes?
Whether you are not Twitter's users one or another way, it has influenced your life. I have made very good friends and connected with like-minded people, and thanks to Twitter that has an option to connect with people worldwide. Although I must admit that once Instagram arrived, I started to tweet a lot less regularly.
Will Twitter stay the same, or will we see some new and exciting updates - I believe we will see this in the future.
All the best to Jack Dorsey!
