‘I don’t understand how an eight-time world champion can’t make his job on his own’ – Joan Mir

Motorcycle Sports

Marc Márquez has been playing a series of mental games with opponents throughout the season and it is usual to see him following someone and today Joan Mir was the target of his compatriot’s pursuit, showing himself in the end surprised as the number 93, his opponent, already a world champion several times, cannot ride alone.

Mir was confronted with the pursuit of Marc Márquez, and replied in an ironic tone: ‘All riders know what Marc needs. He always needs a wheel to be strong, I don’t know, it’s something that it’s difficult for me to understand: how an eight-time world champion can’t make his job on its own. He always needs a wheel’.

The Honda rider’s way of being on track doesn’t bother Mir as he only focuses on his work and riding, as told:

– This is the kind of game that Marc always loves to play and that’s it, and today it was me. I try to do my job and I don’t care if I have someone behind or whatever. I always try to give my 100% and try to work for the race.

Minutes later Honda rider Marc Márquez was confronted with this situation in his debrief, where he confessed that Joan Mir came to him at the end of the session seeking answers from Marc Márquez.

Marc admitted the whole situation but also reminded that he didn't do anything illegal, it's a recurring situation and as long as we don't affect the rhythm of the opposing rider he doesn't see what's wrong with this situation.
