DETROIT, MI - The Detroit Pistons and Shopify are joining forces to establish SHOP313, an unparalleled small business platform to support Detroit's local entrepreneurs and those interested in entrepreneurship.
“Detroit is full of creators and innovators. SHOP313 provides regional entrepreneurs with a platform to achieve a new level of brand awareness and success in the marketplace,” said Pistons Chief Business Officer Mike Zavodsky.
Throughout the 2021-2022 NBA season, each participating business and entrepreneur will receive complimentary access to Shopify, educational programming and resources, grant opportunities, and networking events.
They will also have free access to the Pistons' advertising inventory, which includes social media postings, in-game signage, radio ads during game broadcasts, a presence on Pistons.com and the Pistons App, as well as concourse activation space, and many other perks.
Additionally, RingCentral will be onboard to assist the SHOP313 by giving access to business communication tools as well as $60,000 in grants and complimentary MVP (meeting, video, and phone) subscriptions for the chosen businesses.
Businesses and entrepreneurs must be founded in and/or running in the Detroit area to be eligible for the SHOP313 platform. They must also be an independent, non-franchised business, and be formally incorporated. The application can be submitted through Pistons.com/shop313.
To introduce the SHOP313 to the public, the Detroit Pistons released an exclusive video presenting Killian Hayes, Saddiq Bey, and Isaiah Stewart. Each of them stopped by local Detroit small businesses; Bey went to a lemonade shop Bea's Squeeze, while Hayes went to downtown apparel boutique Detroit is the New Black h, and Stewart was at The Custard Company.
