Starting December 5th, NJ Transit's Morristown Line will operate under a modified schedule due to necessary overhead wire repairs near Mount Tabor, impacting regular service and station stops.

Morristown, NJ – NJ Transit has announced significant service changes on the Morristown Line beginning Tuesday, December 5th, owing to extensive repairs on overhead wires near Mount Tabor. These adjustments are expected to continue until further notice, affecting daily commuters and residents of Morris County.

The modified schedule will involve the following key changes:

  • Certain trains on the Morristown Line will be temporarily out of service.
  • Other trains will be rerouted to operate via the Montclair-Boonton Line between Denville and Newark Broad Street Station (NBS).
  • Additional stops will be added to select trains to accommodate affected passengers.
  • Cross-honoring of tickets will no longer be valid on PATH or Private Carrier bus services. However, it will remain in effect for NJ TRANSIT bus services and Newark Light Rail.

In response to these changes, train services on the Morristown Line will now originate and terminate at Morristown Station. Commuters traveling from Morris Plains and Mount Tabor are advised to use Morristown or Denville stations on the Montclair-Boonton Line for their transit needs. Moreover, there will be no direct service to Hoboken from Morristown, Convent, Madison, or Chatham stations. Passengers destined for Hoboken are advised to transfer at Summit Station or NBS.

The modified schedule is designed to minimize the inconvenience to passengers while the necessary repair work is completed. Commuters are encouraged to check the new timetables for the Morristown Line and Montclair-Boonton Line, available in a printer-friendly format, to plan their journeys accordingly.

For the most current information and updates on the service changes, passengers are advised to visit the NJ Transit website at www.njtransit.com/service-advisory/1690029.

NJ Transit apologizes for the inconvenience and appreciates the patience and understanding of its passengers during this time of essential repair work. The organization remains committed to ensuring the safety and efficiency of its service, even as it navigates these temporary disruptions.
