Recreational cannabis finds a legal path for New Jerseyans: The Bud Bus thrives in a fully legalized landscape
With recreational cannabis now legal in New Jersey, the Bud Bus, a food truck-like service, continues to provide recreational cannabis products to its customers, all while staying on the right side of the law.
The Bud Bus was formed in 2021 in the State of New Jersey as a legal party bus business. Before the full legalization of recreational cannabis, the bus gave away cannabis products with every purchase from their truck. This clever approach allowed them to navigate the ever-changing cannabis laws without drawing the attention of authorities.
Now that recreational cannabis is legal in the state, the Bud Bus has adapted to the new regulations and continues to operate successfully. They maintain their practice of offering a free cannabis gift with every purchase, and customers can still buy a variety of items, such as air fresheners, tee shirts, and lighters.
The Bud Bus offers a free cannabis gift with every purchase. The gift options include:
- Bag of cannabis totaling 3 grams
- Bag of Bud Bus gummies
- 1 gram vape cartridge
- 2 pre-rolls (1.5 grams each)
- 3 pieces of chocolate (50 mg each)
- 1 gram of shatter, crumble, or wax
The Bud Bus complies with the State of New Jersey's regulations, which allows possession of cannabis in amounts up to six ounces (per person) for individuals 21+ years old. The Bud Bus continues to sell its other products at higher prices, making up for the value of the "gifted" cannabis.
Customers can still purchase cannabis products from the Bud Bus by buying an air freshener for $50 and receiving some cannabis as a "gift." The Bud Bus only accepts cash, Venmo, and PayPal. Patrons no longer need a medical card to receive the cannabis "gift" with their purchase, but they must show a valid ID proving they are 21 years or older.
We want to hear from you! Will you order the Bud Bus for your next party or event? Do you think this type of service should continue to operate in the state now that recreational dispensaries are becoming more widespread? Let us know in the comments below.
