Gunman Setting Cars on Fire, Smashing Windows Monday Night on Franklin Street

Morristown Minute

22 cop cars, SWAT, and a lockdown for Morristown Medical Center after a domestic violence incident at 114 Franklin Street led to a 30-year-old male firing off a gun, smashing windows outside of Morristown Medical Center, and setting cars on fire. Franklin Street was shut down from Ford to Madison Ave and Morristown Medical Center's back entrances were locked at 10:03 pm.

A SWAT team set up a command center in the hospital parking lot while the gunman wandered the road. In an Instagram video posted by Morristown.NJ you can see the gunman firing off shots at the street while a car burns up in flames. Shortly thereafter the fire is put out with a hose.

Shortly after the news broke on Instagram it was reported via police scanner that the suspect had been taken into custody.

Many concerned citizens who saw the Instagram video commented on the fact that the gunman can be seen shooting and setting fire to property while a massive police force seems to sit back and watch. While this isn’t exactly how it went down, the police did arrive as the gunman was causing havoc. Morristown Police can be seen waiting to approach the gunman while we can only assume they were working to close down streets, secure Morristown Medical Center, and put out the car fires.

Reports from Morristown.NJ and Morristown police did not specify whether the victim of the “domestic violence incident” that started this crazy night in Morristown was safe or harmed.
