It's Time for Wine in Delmar

Wine, beer, and cheese boards. Need I say more?

Twisted Vine Wine & Tap is a small wine & beer bar located in Delmar, NY - about a 10-minute drive from downtown Albany. Tucked away on a busy street, this place is easy to miss. The vibe is cozy, casual, and has plenty of tables - including bar seats. The red brick on the walls combined with the wooden tables adds to the pleasant aesthetic.

Twisted Vine Wine & Tap offers a wide selection of wine by the glass or bottle. They also have some good options for beer - though it's a bit limited. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant on a Wednesday evening. Every Wednesday, there is a sale that discounts 50% off any bottle of wine on their menu. It's such a steal and can save you some money! For example, I ordered the white Godello on Wednesday. This wine is typically $11 per glass or $40 per bottle. With the discount, the entire bottle is cheaper than 2 glasses!

As for food, the cheese plate is an absolute must. For $20, you get meat, fruit, a fruit preserve spread, and 3 kinds of cheese. If you dislike one of their cheese options you can double up on another one of the cheeses, which is quite accommodating. For those who are skeptical of the herb goat cheese on the plate, I recommend giving it a try. While goat cheese can be quite pungent, the herbs added to the cheese balance out the flavor nicely - making this goat cheese quite mellow. I was also pleased that the cheese plate came with bread - a ton of it! Most restaurants tend to serve crackers with their cheese boards so this was a nice touch. Additionally, their eggplant tapenade is mellow and plentiful, and it also comes with some bread. The tapenade is a nice appetizer to order along with the cheese plate if you have a large party.

Now for their main plates. Their menu is a bit limited due to it being a wine bar, but I felt that the menu had enough variety to satisfy different preferences. Also, while their dishes might look small - they are extremely filling. I ordered their chapch'ae dish. It's a hot dish of sweet potato noodles that are covered lightly in soy sauce and topped with vegetables. You can add chicken or shrimp on top as well. It was delicious and I couldn't believe that the noodles were made from sweet potatoes!

Another tasty dish worth trying is their Wagyu beef sliders. While there are only 2 sliders, they fill you up quickly. Tender and juicy, these burgers are delicious with their house-made chips or a fresh side salad. Either way, your palate will be satisfied and your tummy full.

Everything I've had so far at this restaurant has been delicious. The service is fast and prices are reasonable for what you get. If you're looking for a new wine bar in the Albany area, then Twisted Vine Wine & Tap is worth the trip.
