There’s been sort of a frenzy to populate our homes with little green friends in a variety of shapes, sizes, and styles. There’s just something about house plants to boost the energy in a room. Although, technically it’s not just something. There have been studies on house plants that prove their numerous benefits. It’s enough to make even the least plant-friendly person reconsider their plant-free household. If you’re ready to bring home your very own plant, shop local by checking out these 8 shops in Orlando.
Bros With Hoes
2415 Curry Ford Rd. Orlando, FL
Bros With Hoes (BWH) Plant Co. started as a pop-up trailer traveling around Orlando before settling into a retail location. Of the various plant shops open in the Orlando area this one has the fun, sleek branding and generous variety that makes me want to overspend on plants (again). This small family-run plant shop now ships nationwide and restock days are in hot demand. Shop for unique, rare, and common houseplants online or in-store. The BWH Plant Co. retail location has all sorts of plants and horticulture-enthusiast goodies to browse and buy. If you’re constantly searching for pet-safe plants (I know that pain) then head to the pet-friendly tab of their online shop for a healthy selection to choose from.
Succulents Empire
6015 S Orange Avenue Pine Castle, FL 32809
Succulents Empire is a family-owned plant shop in Pine Castle ran by husband-wife team Joelibeth and Carlos Portillo. They have a physical and online shop. If you prefer seeing your plants in person before you buy, their physical storefront is meticulously organized by care required. This shop is a great option for the careful delivery of your plants near and far. Pop by to support this knowledgeable shop owner and her beautiful selection of houseplants.
Porch Therapy at the East End Market
Audubon Park Garden District 3201 Corrine Drive Orlando, FL 32803
Porch Therapy’s East End Market shop is their flagship retail location. Head to East End Market for a delicious donut from Dochi (Yum!) before heading to browse the indoor and outdoor areas of Porch Therapy’s shop. There’s a lot to love about East End Market but Porch Therapy is the icing on top (fertilizer on top?). Check out their floral arrangements, succulents, plants, and other gardening goods any day from 10 am to 7 pm.

The Heavy
1152 Harmon Avenue Winter Park FL 32789
The Heavy is Porch Therapy’s second shop located in Winter Park. This cozy shop in the old Lombardi’s Seafood building includes local goods, a coffee bar, a flower bar, and plants. While the coffee bar is temporarily closed, you can check out their large selection of plants which are restocked weekly. As an added bonus, you can sign up for a pant or floral subscription. Plant subscription delivers a plant monthly and floral subscription provides weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly arranged bouquets. If you want to try your own hand at floral design you can pick up a floral arrangement workshop kit or a DIY cloche kit.

A trip to Lukas Nursery is a step into plant heaven. You can browse for hours, getting lost in the rows of plants that stretch on for seemingly ever. This nursery has been in Central Florida for over 100 years. Lukas offers an expansive variety of indoor and outdoor plants from groundcover to fruit trees and palms to succulents. While you’re there check out their Butterfly Encounter and collect a handful of tips to guide you in constructing your own ideal butterfly garden at home.

Piante
Both Piante and their sister shop Fledge are located on Park Avenue in Winter Park.
Piante is a landscape design and retail boutique featuring curated plants, pots, and other goods. Their plant materials are locally sourced and they strive for artisanal quality goods. Piante’s retail plant shop is tucked right off Park Avenue and is a lovely green oasis. Although a tad cozy on the inside, there are a selection of plants from the common to the unusual. I like how varied their selection is, like their Marimo moss balls for something less common and their floral bar where you can design your own bouquet. After browsing Piante and walking away with a few new plants (or three!) head over to their newly opened Fledge, the home goods-focused sister of Piante. You’ll be happy to note that Piante has a few plant goods as well like the minimalist air plant.

Land of Alice
Visit their stall at the Winter Garden and Orlando Farmers Markets (not currently attending due to COVID-19).
This shop is regularly stocked with a huge selection of beautiful houseplants. But, what I find especially awesome about this shop is its extensive collection of miscellaneous gardening goods. From the handmade propagation stations to their multi-tier plant stands, Land of Alice is where you want to check or all your plant goodies.
This local plant shop is usually available to shop by appointment but due to COVID-19 they will be offering online orders or contactless pickup only. Keep an eye out for the new plants added to the online shop on Fridays at 6 pm.
