The decision to spend the rest of your life with someone is one of the most important decisions you will ever make in life.

The person you choose to spend your life with will have a major influence over your lifestyle, health, finances, and emotional well-being.

At the core, we are emotional beings and until we find someone who can truly love us for who we are, our lives will never feel complete.

That's why the choice of a partner must be carefully made. If you want to know if your partner is the right fit for you, below are some questions to help you figure that out.

Do you share similar values?

Some say opposites attract. Rather, it is similarities that attract. It will be difficult to spend your life with someone if you both don't agree on a lot of things.

You must be aware of your values. You must know exactly what you like and what you don't like, what you stand for, and what are against.
By being aware of your values, you will be able to tell if your partner shares the same core values as you.

For example;

  • · Do they have the same religious beliefs as you do?
  • · Do they love doing the same things as you do e.g exercise, travel, music, etc
  • · Do they want to raise children in the same fashion as you do?

Asking questions like these will help to determine if they share similar values and beliefs that are very important for any long-term relationship.

Does your attraction flow freely or is it forced?

Couples who truly love each other have an attraction that flows naturally. It's never forced. They don't love one another because of their job or income or social status.

Before deciding if your partner is right for you, ask yourself;

  • · Do I really feel attracted to this person?
  • · Do I think about him or her at different times of the day?
  • · Do I feel happy being around them?

Questions like this will help you to determine if you are really attracted to them or not. No relationship can go on for long without a feeling of attraction towards your partner.

Do your friends and family like them?

Before making the decision to settle down with someone, it is very important to know if your family and friend go along with them.

This is because sometimes we can be blinded by life that we forget to check out someone for who they really are.

Our friends and family can provide better feedback about us and our partner than we can.

Chances are if our family and friends get along with our partner, then they are usually the right ones for us. The person in your life will not only make you happy but will also want to make your family and friends happy as well.

Do you see past their physical looks?

They say the right person for you is soul food, not eye candy. Before making the decision to spend your life with someone, you first have to ask yourself if you see only the superficial or past that.

No relationship will thrive for long if it's built only on looks, financial or social status. Looks fade, they wither with time and soon all you will be left with is an old frail partner beside you.

There must be something deep within you that attracts you to this person more than their physical looks ever will.

If he/she is really the one you want to spend your life with, will you still be with them if they happen to get an accident and their beauty and physical appearance get destroyed? or are you drawn to something else within them?

Questions like this must be asked before any decision is made to say “I do”.
