While Montgomery County as a whole is experiencing record-setting growth, Precinct 4 has been a particular focal point of development. Long-time East County resident Matt Gray is hoping to convince voters to choose him to lead the Precinct 4 Commissioner’s Office into this new phase of growth.
Kicking off his career in the oil & gas industry as an entry-level roustabout on drilling rigs, Gray worked his way up to a leadership position where has worked on global projects, eventually gaining his Project Management Professional accreditation. Gray now works as a Facilities Maintenance Construction Project Manager for Humble ISD, and in his free time coaches the EMC little league baseball team.
“Everything you deal with as a Commissioner; or would or need to deal with as a Commissioner, I have dealt with in some capacity, shape, or form that’s molded me and prepared me to take on this challenge,” stated Gray.
If elected, Gray's primary focus would be completing the remaining projects on the 2015 road bond, “the amount of growth we’re seeing right now, and how far behind we are…first and foremost we need to get all of the roads completed from the 2015 road bond.”
According to Gray, getting the remaining road bond projects completed would provide relief to areas which have been desperate for traffic improvements, while allowing the office to shift focus to increasingly problematic traffic areas, such as around the schools, “We need to focus on these areas, especially where there’s a lot of children.”
“I think it’s important to have an open relationship with the public, transparent, and open five days a week,” said Gray. “I don’t feel like it's any more efficient and you’re not gaining anything else trying to work [only four days a week].”
