Rendevous Cafe in Corona Del Mar

There is a hidden gem in Corona Del Mar that sells exquisite French desserts that is the absolute best in all of Orange County. Nestled in between other small businesses, it's easy to pass by without ever knowing that this cafe even exists! I had the pleasure to meet with the owners daughter Nadine who was super sweet and had a chance to become friends over the past year. This cafe is called Rendevous and their instagram page is @rendevous.cdm I love stopping by for coffee and pick up couple of their pastries. The pastry cream is like no other and truly authentic to what you'd taste in Paris. The cafe has been hit hard due to the pandemic but they received a lot of support from the local customers who continued to order take out and delivery. Walk into the cafe and you'll be welcomed by a large wall covered with flowers that is very Instagram worthy.

Right in the front you'll see a cart filled with mini quiche, tarts, breads, cookies and crossiants. On the other side, you'll continue to salivate over all the delicious pastries and cakes that's very hard to resist.

I'm not a huge fan of Neopolian cakes because it's usually dry, tasteless and boring. But the minute I bit into this cake, I was absolutely surprised by the texture and smooth cream that just melts in your mouth. The layers of the cake was very satisfying and luxurious. The fruit tart had this amazing pastry cream made with just the right amount of egg yolks and vanilla beans to not overwhelm the balance of milk and sugar ratio. Although lemon in any dessert turns me off, the lemon meringue had just the right amount of tart that wasn't too overpowering. I've had many creme brulees but hands down really enjoyed the one from here. You will have to try it for yourself to experience these quality desserts that only Rendevous offers made fresh every day!
