Have you ever wanted to have a cheap and easy method of transportation that allowed you to move around quickly and even be able to transport cargo without having to spend too much money? Do you want that form of transportation to be something that is not only easy to repair but something that you can make quickly without breaking the bank? Well, there is a form of transportation that goes by many names that could be right up your alley if you answered yes to the previous questions. There is a type of scooter that goes by the name of a chukudu.

This type of scooter is also known as a chikudu, chokoudou, or tshukudu, so it goes by many different names. This form of transportation is handmade by people who use it for travel in the eastern portion of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This basic form of transportation was something that first appeared in this portion of the Congo during the 1970s. It was designed specifically to allow people to easily get around during a time of economic turmoil when the materials for traditional vehicles were hard to obtain.

To this day, chikudus are still popular in the Congo and they were selling back two thousand eight for one hundred US Dollars and only cost about sixty dollars’ worth of materials to make. The scooter can be made almost entirely out of wood and can be built as a simple DIY project in about one to three days.
