Here at Mint Message, we are going to recommend a great book for you that acts as a good travel log and something that might make you consider going to the nation of Taiwan and learning more about the culture.

"Two Trees Make a Forest," a memoir and travelogue by Jessica J. Lee. The was published back in 2019 and it takes readers on a great journey through Taiwan’s natural landscapes and the personal heritage of author Jessica J. Lee. The story explores Jessica’s deep connection to her Taiwanese roots, blending her family history with the island’s landscapes. Li's ancestors were among the thousands who fled China to Taiwan during the Chinese Civil War between the Communists and the Nationalists. By exploring the forests, mountains, and beaches of Taiwan, he seeks to understand his identity and connection to his ancestors and the land.

Immersing herself in the island's diverse ecosystem, Lee considers her family's complex history and the impact of political and social change on Taiwan's environment she seeks a nation of the country's rich geological past, explores the origin of the geological plate collisions that gave rise to its rugged terrain. The book not only celebrates Taiwan’s natural beauty but also raises awareness of the environmental issues facing the country. Lee highlights the consequences of deforestation, urbanization, and pollution, and emphasizes early conservation efforts.
