Early Monday morning, a Florida woman, Courtney Lynnette Settle, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) after rear-ending a Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputy.
(This is not a picture of the actual crash. For pictures of the actual crash please scrowl down.)
The incident occurred just after midnight, as the deputy was engaged in off-duty traffic control for a construction business. Settle's 2011 Honda Accord collided with the deputy's marked Chevy Silverado.
Signs of Impairment Lead to DUI Arrest
Upon arriving at the scene, additional officers noted that Settle displayed signs of impairment, prompting her immediate arrest for DUI. The deputy involved in the crash was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Consequences of Impaired Driving
Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister emphasized the severity of the incident, stating, "Driving under the influence is completely unacceptable, and there is no excuse for putting the lives of others at risk with such reckless behavior." He highlighted the potentially devastating and life-changing consequences of impaired driving and emphasized the community's commitment to safety.
Charges Filed, Ongoing Investigation
Courtney Lynnette Settle has been charged with DUI involving personal damage and personal injury. The investigation into the incident is currently ongoing.
What are your thoughts?
What do you think about Settle being charged for DUI? Does her being charged have anything to do with her smashing in to an off duty deputy? Would she faces the same charges if the she had crashed in to anyone elses car? I'd like to know what you think.
