(BROOKLYN, N.Y.) Happy Cinco de Mayo! The holiday commemorates Mexico’s unexpected victory over France in the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, and every year we celebrate Mexican heritage on this date.
Here are some local restaurants and bars celebrating Cinco de Mayo with specials and deals on Thursday:
Alta Calidad - 552 Vanderbilt Ave.
Alta Calidad provides innovative Mexican cuisine and is offering some daily specials, including watermelon ensalada ($12), shrimp enchiladas ($17) and a tequila shot-beer combo ($10). It also has margaritas flowing all night and the restaurant even set up its frozen machine just in time for the holiday.
Eve's Lounge - 769 Washington Ave.
Eve's Lounge, a trendy bar with an intimate atmosphere, is celebrating the holiday with $5 tequila shots, $5 mini tacos and $8 grande margaritas all night long. The lounge is open until midnight and is located on Washington Avenue between Sterling Place and St. Johns Place.
Finn's Corner - 660 Washington Ave.
Finn's Corner is offering some drink specials on Thursday, including a 12 oz. Tecate-tequila shot combo for $8, $7 margs ($1 off during happy hour) and $8 jalapeño margaritas. It's also a great place for sports fans, as the bar will undoubtedly have the Rangers-Penguins playoff game on at 7 p.m.
333 Lounge - 333 Flatbush Ave.
333 Lounge is hosting a Cinco de Mayo party presented by Haus of Friends from 6 p.m. to midnight with food and drink specials and live music all night. Their Instagram boasts about the "best rum punch in NYC," but they also offer frozen mango margaritas.
King Tai - 1095 Bergen St.
King Tai may not be in Prospect Heights but it may be worth crossing over to Crown Heights to try some of their custom cocktails made with Pa'lante, a rum from Mexico, on Thursday.
