(BROOKLYN, N.Y.) A total of 89 female-identifying creatives were awarded grants by the NYC Women's Fund for Music, Media and Theatre, and more than half of the recipients are Brooklyn residents, according to a press release from the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment.

This was the initiative's third round of funding after awarding 94 recipients in 2020 and 63 recipients in 2019, bringing the grand total of funding over the past three years to roughly $5.5 million.

Brooklyn recipients include Becky Baumwoll's modern mime production of "BKBXKids! Asks Why" and Valerie Seeley's musical album "Sigs on Seeley St." A full list of this round's recipients and their projects can be found here.

The NYC Women's Fund strives to provide funding to help creatives complete projects by, for or about women.
