Detroit Historical Society is looking for Building Operations Associate

DETROIT, MI – The Detroit Historical Society is looking for a Building Operations Associate for its Mission and Operations Department.

The Society maintains more than 250,000 artifacts in its collection. It currently employs over 70 individuals to preserve the history of Detroit to inspire a more verdant future.

A Building Operations Associate reports to the Building Engineer and one of their main responsibilities is to help to maintain the appearance of the Detroit Historical Museum and Dossin Great Lakes Museum.

Maintenance should be done to the indoor and outdoor parts of each location. This maintenance duty might also be needed in the Collections Resource Center located at Historic Fort Wayne.

In addition, there will be times that this position is needed to assist the Facility Rental Team with equipment setup. During special events, a Building Operations Associate will help with equipment setup and teardown.

Aside from experience in building maintenance, janitorial, and outdoor landscaping, the candidate for the position is also expected to have hospitality traits as they might be requested to greets and assists guests and coworkers.

The candidate must have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent along with a valid driver’s license. The driver's license must also come with a clean driving record and all candidates will undergo a criminal background check.

This position will be working 35 hours a week and is required to be on-site from Thursday to Sunday, from 9 to 5 p.m. This is a non-exempt full-time benefited position.
