DETROIT, MI – Keep Growing Detroit will hold the 23rd Annual Tour of Detroit Farm and Gardens on August 24, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. EDT.
However, due to safety measures to keep participants safe from COVID-19, this year's tour will be self-driven and will not include a reception.
On this tour, attendees will visit up to four gardens and will be able to hear from the gardeners. For safety reasons, all tour participants have to stay socially distanced while in the gardens.
To prevent crowding, the organizer will limit the number of guests on each tour. Any participant is required to print the ticket or have a screenshot ready to display at the first stop.
All participants are encouraged to dress properly and be prepared for muddy gardens.
Once participants pick a ticket, they will be asked to choose a route Eastside, Westside, Central, or a hyper-local Bike tour.
Founded in 2013, Keep Growing Detroit has joined partnerships with hundreds of residents and community-based organizations to support farmers and gardeners in Detroit, Hamtramck, and Highland Park.
The mission is to cultivate a food sovereign city which means Detroiters have power over the food choices available for their families.
Besides offering many programs to support the local food system in Detroit, KGD also plays a role to connect growers and consumers in an impactful relationship.
Starting from $10 each, the ticket sales end on August 11. For children age 6 years and under, the tickets are free of charge and the sales end on August 23.
