Last Minute Holiday Gifts for New Moms or Moms-to-be

Michelle Jones

We all know how crazy the holiday times can be and get and honestly, sometimes you just have no clue what to gift a new mom or mom-to-be. If this is you, whether it be your sister, friend, cousin… If you want to gift her something creative and special and also, something she will be so grateful for, here are some ideas:

1. Essential oils

As you may know, essential oils are often used in aromatherapy, a form of alternative medicine that uses plant extracts to support health and well-being. There are endless brands that sell EO but that does not mean they are all made the same. Do your research and find the one brand that suits the mom you are gifting. There are way too many oils to choose from so let me give you some that you can pick from along with its benefits:

  • Peppermint: used to boost energy and helps digestion
  • Lavender: used to relieve stress
  • Sandalwood: used to calm nerves and help with focus
  • Bergamot: used to reduce stress and improve skin conditions like eczema
  • Rose: used to improve mood and reduce anxiety
  • Chamomile: used to improve mood and relaxation
  • Ylang-Ylang: used to treat headaches, nausea, and skin conditions
  • Tea Tree: used to fight infections and boost immunity
  • Jasmine: used to help with depression, childbirth, and libido
  • Lemon: used to help digestion, mood and headaches

2. Diffuser

Now that you bought the essential oils, the person you are gifting these to, will need a diffuser. The diffuser will give the room a calmer, more pleasant-smelling ambience since it will be used to fill the air in a room with tiny, breathable particles of the essential oils. It will also allow the person who is in the room to breathe those particles in and receive their benefits. Again, there is a lot of variety to pick from.

3. Skin care products

Every woman needs skin products, especially now that winter is here. Moisturizers are always a must! Body creams are always a great gift that can be bought alone or paired with something else that might make the gift even more special. Some other skin care product ad-ons you could choose from are: face wash or exfoliant, serum, toner, masks. These will definitely leave a mom feeling refreshed especially after a good shower- whenever they have the time.

4. Gift card to their favorite restaurant or yours

These are always a great gift. It does not have to be a super fancy restaurant. There are so many places to pick from especially your favorite ones. There will always be a day when a mom says “I don’t feel like cooking” but she has to eat; and her family does too. Especially if she just had a baby and is struggling with doing everything at the same time. Sometimes she just wants to order in and not have to cook or wash the dishes. She can also decide if she uses it on a date night. Gift cards always give moms that option. Hint: I typically like to choose from a place where there is variety: soups, salads, hamburgers, pastas etc… You really never know what mama is wanting to fuel herself.

5. Voucher for FREE laundry (or any other specific chore you would like to gift her):

Moms always complain about not having enough time to do me time because there is always something around the house that needs to be done. And it’s so true! This is why a FREE laundry voucher is a perfect gift for any mom. Maybe a FREE cleaning to their home would be an excellent gift too! You don’t need to actually spend money on a gift. Sometimes, your labor is more than enough and trust me… I’m sure any mom would rather have this as a gift than something materialistic. Especially if they have their hands full with their children or work.

6. An at home pedicure/manicure

If you know her and she feels like going to a spa and get her nails done, by all means, buy her a gift card for her to visit the spa. If she still does not feel ready, or has a little one she needs to care for, find a manicurist that will go to her home and do the job. It might be a little bit more expensive but it’s money well worth it for her. Remember to tell the manicurist not to forget her mask. If this sounds too risky, you can jump on to the next one.

7. Voucher for a FREE haircut + blowout at her favorite place (or maybe a nicer one)

We all need a haircut at some point and let’s be honest, a blowout would not hurt. Find a salon that is following the pandemic protocols and buy Her a haircut + blowout. Make sure she can use the voucher whenever she wants within a considerate time frame. You don’t want her to be rushed into making an appointment in less than a month; she might not need it until after that.

8. Date night voucher + a little something special

If her kids are still young and need a nanny or baby sitter for her to have a date night, don’t think twice about this one. You can be the person to care for her children while she goes out and haves some fun. This might be harder for a mom with a newborn but it can definitely serve as a “later on” gift she will use when she desperately needs it.

There are so many wonderful ways to gift a mother. During the holidays there are so many ways to get creative on a budget. Many of these ideas you do not even need to spend money on which is so amazing! And personally, I think these are gifts that show how caring you are. Make sure you make a cute Christmas card along with whichever gift you decide to gift!

Good luck and Happy Holidays!
