Miramar police arrested three teenagers on Saturday for the murder of student Dwight “DJ” Grant, whose body was found earlier this week near his home after being reported missing.
The detainees are 17-year-old Andre Clemens, 17-year-old Christie Parisienne and 16-year-old Jaslyn Smith.
Grant's family reported the disappearance of the 18-year-old on Sunday, October 17, and his body was found by investigators a few days later near his residence after they found bloodstains.
According to police, the three teens who were arrested face charges of first degree murder, tampering with evidence and criminal conspiracy.
According to another source in this media, the death of the teenager was due to a girl and that Grant had been trapped in a love triangle.
“It's horrible, horrible. This boy lost his life for a girl. He had his whole life ahead of him. It doesn't make sense, ”said neighbor and family friend Sergio Smith.
Dwight "DJ" Grant had plans to go to college. The Miramar High School senior was an only child.
Smith noted earlier in the week that Grant's mother was heartbroken and had not eaten or drunk anything.
"She is devastated. He really is because DJ was his world, ”Smith said.
Maria Formoso, Principal of Miramar High School, announced Wednesday that students and teachers will be able to meet with counselors to discuss the deceased if they so desire.
“May our Patriot forever rest in peace. Pray for Dwight Grant's family, friends and our community, ”Formoso wrote on Twitter.
