CLARKSTON, WA - A local man was arrested on multiple charges after he allegedly returned to Walmart and threatened to kill an employee who had previously trespassed him from the store and then created a biohazard in an officer's patrol vehicle by spitting several times after claiming he had COVID. Shankle also reportedly attempted to spit on an officer.

According to Asotin County Jail records, 46-year-old Jeremy Wade Shankle was booked on the charges of 2nd-Degree Burglary, Threats to Kill, two counts of Harassment, Attempted 3rd-Degree Assault, and 1st-Degree Malicious Mischief.

A Probable Cause Affidavit says Clarkston Police officers responded to Walmart at around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a male trespasser who had been banned from the store that morning and had returned hours later in search of an employee. Shankle was identified in the parking lot and quickly taken into custody.

During an investigation, employees reportedly told police that Shankle had been threatening to kill one employee and beat up others.

The affidavit says an officer who was staying with Shankle at the patrol vehicle reportedly messaged the investigating officer and told him that Shankle wanted to take his service weapon off of him.

As Shankle was transported to the jail, he allegedly spit on several parts of the patrol vehicle's door.

"[The officer] had to remove himself from call availability and temporarily remove his patrol vehicle from service to the public to clean and sanitize the door of the patrol vehicle," the affidavit says.
