Harvest Seasonal Grill & Wine Bar has been around for a couple of years in Lancaster, PA. It's located within the Belmont shopping area and has made itself known locally for its farm-to-table approach. This is an increasingly popular food trend, and particularly doable to accomplish in Lancaster with its fertile soil and prime farmland.

Wine samplings

After being gifted a generous gift card to Harvest recently, my husband and I went on a date night. We started out with their "Wine Flight". This allowed us to sample three wines from their list, each 2 oz. I chose Liberty School, a Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon, Argento - a Malbec from Mendoza, Argentina, and lastly, Super Tuscan, Agiano from Toscana.

Before ordering, I asked our waiter if he could recommend some of the more dry wines on the list, and the ones I ended up with were just what I was hoping for.

Variety meals

As for food, we ordered two appetizers to share; Korean BBQ chicken lettuce wraps, and flatbread with ricotta and local honey. Mains were sea bass as well as a root vegetable poutine.

What I'm left with after visiting Harvest Seasonal Grill is that they're truly seasonal and local. The root vegetables (including my favorite, parsnips) were incredibly fresh. My favorite, though, must be the wraps. The fact that the wrap itself was lettuce and not a tortilla let the chicken with all its spice, accompanied with carrots, scallion, cilantro, crispy onion, and more, truly shine.

There's a bit of everything at Harvest. From gluten-free, low-calorie or vegan to hearty short ribs and grilled filet mignon, this is an ideal spot to visit if you come with people who share different taste preferences.

I'm definitely coming back for more.
