When Wine Spectator released their restaurant award winners earlier this year, several Pennsylvania establishments made the list. Wine Spectator's Restaurant Awards recognize restaurants whose wine lists offer interesting selections, are appropriate to their cuisine and appeal to a wide range of wine lovers. Here are two of the restaurants, which, in addition to being awarded for their wines also focus on locally sourced food.
Osteria Avanti, Lancaster
Osteria Avanti is located in Leola, a charming small-town in Lancaster County, known for their farmland and fresh produce. The restaurant serves casual Italian-inspired food.
They gather herbs, spices, eggplants, tomatoes, and many other vegetables right from their own garden. As part of their sustainable strategy, they source local ingredients whenever it's possible.
Their award-winning wine list is featuring over 450 selections. If you enjoy a good Italian meal, this place is worth a visit.
Address: 38 Deborah Dr, 17540 Leola
Victor’s, York
Victor’s in York has been a neighborhood staple since 1984.
Today, their menu changes with the season, and always highlights local products whenever it is possible. It's an Italian restaurant where you get the best of fine dining. There's also a bar in their building if you're planning more of a low-key evening out with friends.
Their extensive wine list includes wines from all over the globe. Italian wines on the list include Falanghina, Terredora “Corte di Giso” (campania), Vermentino, Argiolas “Costamolino” (Sardegna), and much more.
To qualify for an award from Wine Spectator, a wine list must present complete, accurate information, including vintages and appellations for all selections. Complete producer names and correct spellings are mandatory, and the overall presentation of the list is also considered.
