It usually doesn't take much to make little kids happy. My guess is a toddler will be happier eating freshly made ice cream on a bench than being dragged around on an all-inclusive trip to Disney. I did just that last week (the ice cream, not Disney). After daycare, we decided to make a detour pit stop at Harvest Lane Farm in Lititz.

The farmer's market is known locally for its amazing service and fresh produce and during the summers, you can't go there without trying out the fresh ice cream or milkshakes. We ordered a salted caramel-flavored ice cream as well as an Oreo-flavored one, plus one quart of fresh strawberries. The kids loved it, especially the giant chunks of Oreos.

Harvest Lane Farm offers a quaint outdoor seating area with a handful of picnic tables and a little grassy area for kids to run around. Admiring the farmland, the tractors and trucks, my kids had a lovely time. The view isn't bad either, representing some of the stunning farmland you'll find in Lancaster County.

Family farm

This is a 4th generation family farm that started selling their produce humbly at a roadside stand. In 2014, they outgrew the stand and their 2,500-square feet barn was built. The new farmer's market in Lititz quickly became a hit among locals as one of the better places to get fresh produce. The market is located on the Stahl family farm a 100-acre farm established in 1956 by Jacob and Rachel Stahl.

Address: 851 E Oregon Rd, Lititz, PA 17543.
