When Passenger Coffee recently was named the best coffee shop, not only in Lancaster but in all of Pennsylvania, I knew I had to check it out. Located in the heart of the city, it's easily accessible and easy to find.
Coffee and bites
Their West King Street location features stunning, minimalist designs and a coffee menu with a handful of selections. In addition, they're serving small bites such as biscuits and cookies. I ended up ordering a savory biscuit and a cappuccino. You could taste the quality of the coffee, and from now on, this spot will be a new go-to whenever I treat myself to a coffee during the day.
Sustainable
More important than the taste and style of the place is their focus on ethics and a sustainable supply chain. The mission of Passenger Coffee is "to seek out and thoughtfully present the world’s most memorable coffees and teas in a way that demonstrates the viability of an equitable supply chain."
You can tell that this place cares about every single step from the coffee beans to a perfectly brewed cappuccino. Rated the best in our state by Food & Wine, I'd have to agree with their reporter, saying Passenger Coffee is worth a visit from anywhere.
The neighbor
And while you're there, Passenger's neighbor Foxduck, another ethically-minded, socially-conscious company, has tons of unique apparel, and they're family-owned. Coffee, plus cool, local clothing. It's a win-win, any day.
