How sweet it is when big name musicians stop into Charleston, West Virginia on their cross-country tours.

James Taylor and his all-star band will be performing at the Charleston Coliseum on Friday, August 6th with very special guest American singer-songwriter Jackson Browne. The show will kick off at 7:30 pm.

The six-time Grammy award winning singer-songwriter Taylor is no stranger to the Mountain State, having performed in Charleston in 2006, 2011 and 2017. His classic rock and traditional pop stylings often sell out shows in Charleston venues, which is why he and Browne will be at the Charleston Coliseum when he sings “You’ve Got a Friend” and “Fire and Rain.”

Fellow Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Browne is a prolific singer, songwriter, and performer in his own right. When he wasn’t writing hit songs for musical acts with household names, such as the Eagles, he made a name for himself with such hits as “Somebody’s Baby” and “Running on Empty.”

This U.S. tour was originally scheduled for mid-2020 but had to be postponed because of the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdowns. Tickets purchased for the original shows are still valid or can be returned for a refund. New tickets to the Charleston show are still available.

This is the only show Taylor and Browne will be performing in West Virginia on this tour. However, for West Virginians spread across the state, other shows may be more convenient, such as the August 3rd show in Pittsburgh or the August 11th show in Roanoke, Virginia.

Fans who cannot make any of the shows this time may wish to place their hopes in the fact that the 73-year-old Taylor seems to be showing no signs of slowing down. With any luck, maybe he’ll be back in Charleston in another five years or so, singing his popular classics and promoting yet another new Grammy-nominated album.
