When will I receive my May Social Security benefits?

May 3: Social Security payments will be issued to individuals who receive both SSI and Social Security or have been receiving Social Security benefits since before May 1997.
May 10: Social Security payments will be issued to individuals whose birthdays fall between the 1st and 10th of any given month.
May 17: Social Security payments will be issued to individuals whose birthdays fall between the 11th and 20th of any given month.
May 24: Social Security payments will be issued to individuals whose birthdays fall between the 21st and 31st of any given month.
What can I do if I don't receive my check on the scheduled date?
Unfortunately, your check doesn't come on the expected date; Social Security Administration says that you must wait for an additional three mailing days before taking further action.
Check still has not arrived after this period; you can contact the representative at 800-772-1213 (SSA recommends calling during less busy times), specifically Wednesday - Friday between 4 PM. and 7 PM. Or in the afternoon on weekdays.

Case of Both Social Security and SSI?
If you have both Social Security and SSI or are receiving Social Security benefits from 1997, the payment schedule differs slightly. Instead of Wednesday, your Social Security payment will be issued on the third day of every month, and your SSI payment will be issued on the first day of each month.
However, these payment dates may differ if the first or third day of the month is a weekend or a holiday. For example, if April 1st falls on a Saturday, SSI recipients would receive their April payments a day earlier, and their Social Security payments would be issued on April 3rd.
