January 6th:
Last December, the Jan. 6 Select Committee concluded that Trump and his allies had a "multipart plan to overturn the 2020 presidential election", including the attack on the Capitol. The Committee recommended Trump be indicted on four criminal charges.
Separately, DoJ special counsel Jack Smith is still carrying out a criminal investigation into the Capitol assault.
Nearly 1,000 people were arrested for their actions on Jan. 6.
Georgia:
In the phone call heard around the world between Trump and Republican secretary of state Brad Raffensperger Trump told Mr Raffensperger to "find 11,780 votes". A 26-member grand jury investigated electoral fraud, racketeering and making false statements to government officials, in connection with he 2020 Presidential election.
Trump and around 20 of his allies have been named as potential targets of the probe. The Fulton County DA will announce charges, if any, later this year.
Mar-a-Lago Classified Docs:
The US Justice Department (DoJ) launched a criminal investigation into Trump after he was found to have removed classified documents from the White House when he left in 2021. As it is now clear that most presidents have removed documents at some point, the real issue in Trump’s case is that, according to court documents, Trump resisted federal government efforts to retrieve official paperwork for more than a year.
During searches of four of Trump’s properties documents, including a laptop, were found and seized.
Hush Money Payments:
Trump was indicted by a grand jury in New York on 34 felony charges relating to him allegedly falsifying business records in the run-up to the 2016 election. This case centers around alleged "hush" money sent to former porn actress Stormy Daniels after she said they had an affair.
Trump’s lawyer, Michael Cohen paid her $130,000 to keep the affair quiet. Once he was elected, Trump reimbursed Mr. Cohen by paying him more than double the original amount. He continued to deny the affair, however. According to court documents, Trump falsely listed his former lawyer's reimbursement as "legal services".
