Delta 8, Delta 9, Delta 10… THC… CBD, what is it all and is it legal where you are?

CBD is a component of medical marijuana, it is derived directly from the hemp plant, or manufactured in a laboratory. According to a report from the World Health Organization, "In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential…. To date, there is no evidence of public health related problems associated with the use of pure CBD." Products containing CBD have been shown to curb epileptic seizures and help with anxiety, insomnia, and chronic pain. CBD will not make you "high". CBD is legal to purchase and use in all 50 states.

THC is a blanket term used to refer to the more than 100 cannabinoids found in marijuana. Delta 9 THC is the psychoactive cannabinoid marijuana users know and love. It’s the active compound responsible for marijuana’s signature “high”. And it’s also responsible for one of the most well-known side effects of weed: the munchies. The use of Delta 9 is federally illegal, but legal for recreational use in 18 states, and approved for medical use in several others, including Florida.

Delta 8 and Delta 10 are also cannabinoids. Delta 8 and 10 are federally legal and fills a need in states where cannabis is still banned. Delta 8 is only about half as potent as Delta 9. It provides a similar set of uplifting effects. The euphoric sensations are similar, but the effects of Delta 8 reportedly keep users more alert, focused, and energized. Delta 10 can get you high, although it is much less potent than regular Delta 9 THC. Anecdotally, Delta 10 is commonly reported to provide energizing effects, whereas Delta 8 is reported to be more sedating.

These two derivatives of THC are federally legal because they are derived from hemp, which was legalized in the US when Congress passed the 2018 farm bill, that makes them legal in states that haven’t specifically banned them. There are only 11 states that have specifically banned these products, and some of those allow recreational use of Delta 9.

How do you get your hands on this totally legal way to get high? Forbes kindly printed a ‘Top 10’ of Delta 8 gummies guide along with links to where to buy them and have them shipped to your home.

Order, chew, swallow and let the high times roll!
