Mike Pence Makes New Statement About January 6th

Former Vice-President Mike Pence recently made a statement about the events of January 6th. During an interview on CNN's State Of The Union program, he discussed the actions of Donald Trump and other infamous events that occurred on January 6th, 2021.

“While his words were reckless, based on what I know, I am not yet convinced that they were criminal. But criminal charges have everything to do with intent, what the president’s state of mind was. And I don’t honestly know what his intention was that day."

Mike Pence also added the American people should be able to decide if Donald Trump acted with criminal intent during the events of January 6th at the Capitol in Washington, DC. “I don’t honestly know what his intention was that day," he said. “But for my part, from what I saw, as I’ve said, is his actions were reckless. I believe that history will hold him accountable.”

It's worth noting that Mike Pence is currently running against Donald Trump to be the next Republican nominee for the 2024 election. “Every time our nation has produced leadership that has called upon this country to do hard things, the American people have always risen to the challenge,” said Mike Pence while announcing his candidacy. “And we will again. We just need government as good as our people to do it.”
