Governor Greg Abbott has announced a plan to improve school choice within Texas...
Governor Greg Abbott recently reaffirmed his commitment to expand school choice within the state of Texas. "I will not give up on delivering education freedom for every Texas family," he said. "We will have a special session to bring expanded school choice to all Texas parents and children."
"No one knows what is better for a child than their parent," Governor Abbott said on Twitter. "Parents must have the freedom to choose the education pathway that’s best for their child. Texas has an obligation to empower parents."
Here Are The Details Of Greg Abbott's Plan To Improve The Texas Education System.
"Freedom is a word that resonates with Texans—it's who we are and what we believe in," said Governor Abbott during a speech. "Structuring education for the future has to be focused on one thing: the students. When you combine freedom and focusing on students, education comes down to one, six-word sentence: mom and dad are in charge. Our job is to ensure the rightful position of parents in their child's education is protected and embodied in the state of Texas so we can achieve the best results for our students."
"We must empower parents to have access to school curriculum, school libraries, and what children are being taught," Governor Abbott continued. "We must also empower parents to choose the best education option for their child."
According to the Texas Public Policy Foundation, Greg Abbott plans to expand school choice - so a child's standard of education won't be dictated by the street they live on. Greg Abbott also plans to amend the Texas Constitution to bolster a parent’s right as the primary decision-maker in all matters involving their child. In addition, the Governor wants to expand parent access to curriculum, school libraries, and what children are taught in class.
Greg Abbott Wants To Invest In The Children Of Texas.
It's no secret that Texas Governor Greg Abbott has made expanding school choice one of his biggest legislative priorities as Governor.
“Education choice already exists in a majority of states in the United States, and it hasn’t defunded public schools in those areas,” said Greg Abbott during a visit to San Antonio. “Success among other states have shown that school choice does not destroy public schools, it actually improves public schools. States who have implemented school choice now rank among the best for their students, and we want to achieve the very best for our students right here in Texas."
"After my accident that left me paralyzed, I made the decision to not let my life be defined by the enormous challenge that I faced," he said. "Instead, I would determine my future by the way that I responded to this new challenge. This principle applies to all of us. Our lives are not defined by how we are challenged, but rather, how we respond to that challenge."
"We, as a people of Texas, commit to doing everything we can to respond to the lack of parental rights in our children's education," Governor Abbott continued. "If each of us refuses to be defined by the challenge, but instead how we respond to that challenge, we will be part of the generation that ensures Texas children will be the best educated students in the nation."
