Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen will send state troopers to the southern border soon...

Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen has announced the deployment of state troopers to the southern border effective immediately, according to a press release.

"Our nation has a serious and unchecked threat on its hands following President Biden's decision to end Title 42," said the Governor. "Nebraska is committed to using every tool in its tool box to help stop the influx of illegal immigration at our southern border. Illegal immigration hurts our nation's security, undermines the rule of law, and threatens the wellbeing of our state."

Colonel John Bolduc, Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol, provided more details about the deployment of state troopers to combat the migrant crisis. “Our team of drone operators will provide valuable assistance to our law enforcement partners in Texas as they work to keep communities safe at the border. Our team is eager to join troopers from several other states answering Texas’ call for assistance.”

According to the official press release by Governor Jim Pillen, Nebraska will not be reimbursed by Texas for costs incurred during the southern border deployment. Instead, the total cost will be contained within the existing Nebraska State Patrol budget.

Several Other States Have Deployed Troops To The Southern Border

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee recently authorized the Tennessee National Guard to be deployed on the southern border. “America continues to face an unprecedented border crisis that threatens our nation’s security and the safety of Tennesseans,” he said. “The federal government owes Americans a plan to secure our country, and in the meantime, states continue to answer this important call to service. I am authorizing the Tennessee National Guard to help secure the Southern border, and I commend these troops for providing critical support.”

Governor Jim Pillen's deployment of state troopers comes shortly after he met Texas Governor Abbott for a meeting about the border crisis. They were also joined by Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves, Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt, South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster, Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee, Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, and Idaho Governor Brad Little.

"Republican governors stand ready to protect the U.S.-Mexico border and keep families safe," said the governors in a joint statement. “Texas Governor Greg Abbott has exemplified leadership at a critical time, leading the way with Operation Lone Star, and deploying the Texas Tactical Border Force to prevent illegal crossings and keep the border secure. We support the efforts to secure the border led by Governor Abbott.”
